The Memorial Day Classic

A few years ago I spent some afternoons photographing various horse shows in Southern California.  As a rider, I spent many years competing in these shows, and I can't say that I didn't wish it were me riding this hunter.

Three's A Crowd

Last summer we took a trip to Nebraska to visit family that lives on a cattle farm.  The cows were amazing and beautiful, but the chickens were very entertaining!

Date Night

This little red tomato was too cute to be painted only once.  Here I have paired with a perfectly complimentary bottle of pinot noir.

Garden Fresh

I have been branching out from what I usually paint (landscapes, architecture, animals) and trying some simple, looser still life paintings.  This squat little tomato seemed like a great subject for practicing just that.

Another Yellow Bowl

This little guy is part 2 of the "Seeing Double Challenge" I entered on Daily Paintworks.  I was so nervous to paint blueberries for the first time in these paintings, but they were a lot more fun than I expected!

The Yellow Bowl

One of the reasons I chose Daily Paintworks as a place to showcase my paintings is the weekly challenges they host.  Last weeks's challenge was titled "The Seeing Double Challenge," in which the artist creates two unique works based on the same subject.  The two paintings should be different size, and have a different composition.    I love how loose they leave the guidelines, making for wonderful and unique entries.  I don't know why I chose a challenge with two paintings to start me off, but it was fun!  This painting is part one of my entry.

Pasadena Capitol Building

Since moving from Southern California to Missouri in December, I find that one thing I miss is the style of architecture.  Buildings like the Pasadena capitol building aren't very prevalent in the Midwest.
